About Malaina

Malaina Freedman | College Admissions Counselor

Hello, I'm Malaina!

Growing up, I was fascinated by the power of persuasion and took full advantage of it.

I convinced my mother that a plate of chocolate cake at breakfast was worth the calcium I could drink in a glass of milk.

In the third grade, my class held a trial for the wolf in The True Story of the Three Little Pigs. I was the only one who raised my little hand when the teacher asked who would be willing to represent the wolf. Not only did I win the case that day, it ignited my passion for seeking justice and becoming a lawyer.

As I navigated my educational journey, it was the power of persuasion that got me into almost every academic institution I applied to every time admissions season came around.

I pursued my undergraduate degrees in History and Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania, taught English for a year in Prague, and then went to the London School of Economics, where I earned a MSc in International Health Policy and Economics. I travelled through Europe and Africa while studying internationally, and finally culminated my studies at Stanford Law School, graduating in 2012.

I practiced law in both the private and public sectors but always felt drawn to helping others find their voice.  I love helping students discover their passions, improve their writing, and guiding them in their personal growth. I've been doing this for the last nine years and no work has ever felt so fulfilling.

My approach to higher education covers all aspects of the application process from choosing the right schools, to crafting compelling essays, and preparing you to ace your interviews.

If you're looking for a persuasion expert to be in your corner as you navigate applications this season, not only will I help you become a better writer, but I will be here every step of the way to help you get into your dream school.
